July 9th-Homeschool Science

Charlotte Mason (19th century educator) advocates daily nature walks with a sketch book. This is something we'll work up to, but we do walks just about every day and today I decided we'd give the whole sketching something a try. We found a lovely large snail. Perfect! So, here is Little Dude's first snail drawing. The snails eyes are actually the two lines on the right. They kind of look like the snail's trail. :)



Little Dude's second drawing had more of a storyline...the snail crawled through the long grass under the sun and then on the ground under the moon and cloud.


Munchkin by contrast drew this:

No discernable snail here, but look...it's MULTICOLOURED! Everything up to this point has pretty much been a single colour. He's discovered the rainbow.

And this is how they started their walk, they were happy to be going outside.


So I consider our first, specifically science, outing a success.
